Anne,

I think this would be worth copying around.

Brian

Dear Brian,

I'm writing to let you know that Southside Community Council is currently developing a Local Place Plan for Southside, and to invite you to get involved and help spread the word.

As you know, a Local Place Plan is a community-led planning document under the Planning (Scotland) Act 2019. Once registered with the City of Edinburgh Council, it must be taken into account when planning decisions are made in our area. We are aiming to submit ours by the end of September 2026, to feed into the development of City Plan 2040.

We would welcome views from anyone connected to Southside, including residents of neighbouring areas. There are two ways to contribute: a short online survey (around 10 minutes) covering housing, streets and spaces, and community amenities and an interactive map where people can pin comments to specific locations in the neighbourhood.

We also have one remaining community workshop, on Saturday 9 May, 1–3pm at Southside Community Centre. Anyone can register here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1984515693862?aff=oddtdtcreator

If you are able to share these links with your own networks and through your channels, we would be very grateful.

Later this summer we will share a draft of the plan with Marchmont and Sciennes Community Council as part of the statutory consultation process. If you would like to discuss any aspects of the plan before then, please get in touch at l...@sccedinburgh.org.uk.

Best wishes,

Alessandro Fusco
Chair, Southside Community Council
