Subject: Greenbank To Meadows Quiet Connection - June 2026 Update
To:

Dear Sir or Madam,

GREENBANK TO MEADOWS QUIET CONNECTION - JUNE 2026 UPDATE

I am writing to tell you about recent decisions made by Councillors that will mean changes to the traffic filters in the Braid Estate.

On 12 May 2026 the Council’s Traffic Regulation Orders Sub-Committee decided to make these three traffic filters permanent:

  • Whitehouse Loan at its junctions with Strathearn Road and Warrender Park Road
  • Braid Road at its junction with Hermitage Drive and Braidburn Terrace

The remaining traffic filters could not be made permanent due to errors in the statutory traffic orders needed to do this. These are located on:

  • Canaan Lane
  • Braid Avenue at its junction with Cluny Drive
  • Hermitage Gardens at its junction with Cluny Drive

Since then, on 18 June 2026, the Council’s Transport and Environment Committee decided:

  • to keep the traffic filter on Canaan Lane in place through a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) while we work to make ite permanent under a new Traffic Regulation Order (TRO)
  • to pursue a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) to create a new permanent modal filter on Clinton Road

To confirm, the two traffic filters along Cluny Drive will be removed and the two junctions will be returned to their original layouts.

The map below shows the planned changes.

Attached is the letter that will be circulated with local residents within the Braid Estate early next week for your information.

Next steps

We are now working to make these changes.

We will update you and the community ahead of the work starting and will introduce temporary signs to make sure that everyone in the community, cyclists and drivers understand the changes.

Further information

More information and updates about the project can be found on our website.

Yours faithfully,

Andres Lices
