As an executive board, we have added a new section to our Marching 97 Constitution that has our guidelines for alumni participation in official events. I've copied the new set of guidelines below:
-Alumni, as well as non-band members, may enter the official band section during the third quarter of a home game until the eight-minute mark.
-Alumni participating in the Lehigh-Lafayette halftime performance may attend practices during which the band scheduled to work on the Lehigh-Lafayette show according to the Drum Major.
-Alumni are allowed to participate in the Lehigh-Lafayette halftime performance, stands, and tailgating during Le-Laf.
-If alumni choose to participate in the stands alongside current Marching 97 band members on ABD, the Drug and Alcohol Policy must be followed.
-If at any point the Drug and Alcohol Policy is not upheld by an alumnus, Executive Board members reserve the right to direct the alumnus to the designated alumni section, or in severe cases remove the alumni from participation with the 97 in that given event.
-Alumni must inform the Publicity Manager that they will be attending band camp. Alumni will be housed in a separate cabin from current band members. If an alumnus shows up unannounced, the executive board reserves the right to turn the alumnus away.
A key takeaway from our new guidelines is that alums are asked to remain in the stands outside of the band's area for the first, second, and fourth quarter. During the third quarter until the eight-minute mark, alumni are permitted to enter the official band area.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and support of the Marching 97!
In Psyche,
Maeve McGowan
