It's that time of year we start to get players pushing to move the game outdoors, especially on Sundays.  There are a number of considerations that must guide the decision.

  1. Wayne reserves the Middle School gym through the middle of April, so we have a decent place to play while we wait for the opportunity to move the game outdoors. This comes with a commitment to pay a usage fee for Sunday games. We can get by that commitment by canceling the reservation by end of day the prior Thursday.
  2. Canceling the gym reservation implies there is another place to play. There seems to be an assumption that we can just play on the turf field.  While school is in session, this is not a viable option since it is used by school groups. We could possibly reserve some other time slot but there is no guarantee that, after canceling the gym reservation, we wouldn't be pre-empted. Therefore, we need to forget about the turf field when school is in session.
  3. Another alternative is a grass field such as Marbletown Elementary or the town park on Tongore Road. However, it would be totally irresponsible for us to play on the grass fields until they dry out a bit, so we don't trash them for others as well as ourselves. We have no way of knowing when that will be. If it's a very wet spring, we can extend the indoor season.

It is my opinion that, in consideration of the above, the games should be played as scheduled. If anyone has a better idea, kindly bring it forward.
