Singing with a Gandharva

Pt. Kumar Gandharva was an immensely creative Hindustani musician of the last century. Striking bold new paths of presentation, his performances were electrifying. Deeply sensitive to beauty in nature, poetry and other forms of artistic expression, he created many compositions with highly evocative imagery.
As a 25th year remembrance, Dr. Lakshmi Sreeram presents a musical evening "Singing with a Gandharva" at Raga Sudha Hall, Luz Avenue on 21st October from 5.30 pm. There will be a presentation by Lakshmi Sreeram on the theme of "Ritu Darshan", in which she will present compositions describing seasons and the moods they evoke; most of the compositions are Kumarji's.
Following this, senior vocalist, Pt. Satyasheel Deshpande, will offer a tribute including a lecdem on Kumarji's contribution to Raga Sangeeth.
