Session Idea: Assessment & Metrics

Would anyone be interested in doing a session on assessment and/or metrics? As LAC co-chair, I'm not really looking to present myself, since I'll be busy. :-) But I could do it if necessary.

I organized a session on assessment and metrics for archival processing this spring at the MARAC meeting, and it was very popular. And I know there are a bunch of folks in NEA who are working on this stuff.

I'd be happy to help organize, find speakers, etc. - and also share my slides and other information from the spring session.

I'd love to see this topic continue to be covered!

The Special Collections Research Center (SCRC) is the principal repository for and steward of the Libraries’ rare books, manuscripts, archives and University records. Our reading room is located on the ground floor of Paley Library and is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

There's one taker so far for this session, who may speak about collections assessment. I was thinking that it would be great if another speaker could address assessment and/or metrics for processing, and maybe a third to address assessment or reference and public service.

Hi Katy,

I was interested in proposing something along these lines in regards to large-scale or cross departmental audiovisual assessments (along the lines of Indiana University's media preservation initiative). I've managed several dealing with 100,000s of items and have been putting together information on differing approaches (format level, asset group level, item level) and comparing timelines, staffing, tools, and outcomes. Do you think that might fit in?
