MAPW: Defence Community consultation concerns

Dear all,

 

You may not be aware that the report on the “Community Consultation” for the Defence White Paper has been released. It is both disappointing and concerning. The report represents in effect a consultation with the defence industry.

 

For the many organisations who wrote submissions and attended hearings in good faith, by ignoring or dismissing the evidence submitted and the groups concerned, the report represents a breach of faith.

 

Please see www.mapw.org.au for a brief initial report on some initial concerns regarding the process, and the content of the report; and the links to the report and to the submissions.

 

We will be preparing a somewhat more detailed response, but I would be pleased also to hear from any other groups who intend to respond.
