garmin map slow to load.

I have a point file of about 1,000 points.  Is there any way to get my garmin to load the file faster as I'm on the go?  My issues is as I am driving past the points I sometimes have to stop and let the gps "catch up" on loading the map data back on the screen.

 

Any thoughts?

what gps model are you using and what type of file have you loaded into it.
