hi to all! we (efren, rico, elvis and me of course) had dinner at TGIF. i tried to contact liza engay but she is not available last nyt. marami pang names sila na ibinigay na na sa dubai pero wala kaming contact number. so if anyone knows the number of the ffg batchmates please let us know.Julius BorromeoNoel SiapcoRico and Efren, add nyo na lng ung ibang names na na-mention nyo kagabi.I have attached two pics. I am the lady in the pic believe it or not!......hehehe!I left them after the dinner coz they will still go to the bar and I have to work early today. Oo Preng Rico, naareglo ko na yang si Tamara saka yung iba pa. Kaya si Marlon, pag marami ng spam na sinesend satin, malapit na rin yan maareglo. Hahaha! (Joke lang pre!). Yup, for the first time in history, tinamaan ang engineering. Sa US noon, madalas matamaan ang mga nursing or any medical field jobs and hindi nagagalaw ang engineering kahit anong recession pa. Pero nakakagulat at engineering ang tinamaan na talaga. Kakalungkot isipin, pero unti unti ng nagde-decline ang mga general engineering field, tulad ng civil engineering natin. Dito sa US, maraming mga emerging new engineering field ang very in-demand, like: energy engineering, decision engineering, network engineering, robotics engineering, environmental engineering, aerospace engineering, materials science, nano-bio materials, propulsion engineering, etc. Kaya ayan ang mga ipa-take up niyo sa mga kids niyo, yung mga bagong engineering fields na. The world is changing and the demand for engineering is changing too. I think our civil engineering degree have been soaked up for centuries and the world needs specific fields for specific jobs na.
Anyways, we’re all still okay here in the US naman. Like what I said, the economy is picking up and meron ng pakonti konti na mga projects na kailangan i-bid para me project for next year. Unlike noong last quarter ng 2008 until June 2009, sabi nga ng ma puti, “it’s like America’s light has been turned off, and everybody goes to sleep”. As in wala talagang project na matatrabaho out there.
Kaka-miss sa Pinas, people are very alive and there’s a lot of people shopping pa rin sa mga malls and everywhere! J

Yeahh...I'm sorry to hear that also from you Pareng Mon! Ala...Perhaps this is the worst year that happened sa mga batchmates except dun sa mga nasa telecommunication magnate like Nong and Tarry hehehe! Dito nga sa Dubai kung tutuusin nasa peak pa rin ang construction kaso nang dahil nga sa bastos na recession na yan, nangalusaw lahat! Ang itinutuloy lang ay yung on-going projects but those projects which are on the tender stage, naka-freeze lang muna. Pareng Jhay....thanks for the concern ha! Basta Quantity Surveyor/Estimator ang linya natin ngayon. Ala eh, yan lang ang inabot ng career natin, huh!

Its sad to hear you,mon, are affected by the recession. Here in Bahrain katamtaman lang ang impact ng recession mukha ngang nag-uumpisa pa lang. Our company, although not directly nareretrench ng tao, it is very noticeable na sunod sunod ang nagreretire. Baka may magandang offer for them to retire at this point in time.
I was actually contemplating on finding a new job but as you said, I have to think a hundred, even a thousand times.
As for the recent typhoon, binaha rin kami, kaya kung me magbibigay dyan ng relief goods, in dollars ha, hehehe. Seriously, mababa lang naman ang baha samin although pinasok nga ang bahay namin. Lucky that my mom is already living with my sis in sucat since we left.
Nong, wag mo na patuyuin yang car mo. Buy ka na lang ng bago, kayang kaya mo naman e.

Rico, if ever I would hear of some openings here, I would let you know. How is your wife? I hope the family is okay.
Anyways, do you know guys na ang application form ngaun sa Mapua (for college entrance exam) e meron ng clause saying that they intend to change the name Mapua Institute of Technology to Malayan University. The College of Engineering, Architecture and IT, would still be called Mapua. At meron pang "I hereby knowingly and freely consent to the possibility that, if admitted, I may receive a diploma and transcript of records in the name Malayan University when I graduate." Nakakahinayang ung pinaghirapan natin d ba?

Hello mga friends! I just removed those pesky spam members (Tamara
Everett, etc) who are lurking our group eversince. I don't have time
to chit chat for a couple of months because am so busy looking for a
job, here and there. As for the information of our classmates all
around the world, USA was badly hit by the recession. All engineering
jobs here are depleted and America don't have any engineering project
since last year. Ngayon lang medyo nagkakaroon at nagpi-pickup na.
Us here in the US just don't talk about it in our group pero almost
all of us are affected and being laid off, for a couple of times.
Including myself, I got laid off this year and until now, naghahanap
pa rin ng permanent position. I got some little sideline here and
there, pero it's just really hard. Pero all of us are keeping our
spirits high and are positive that all things will go back to its
original economic state the way it was.
I visited the Philippines just last month and stayed there also for a
month. I observed that the Philippines are not entirely hit by the
world recession and things are looking really okay. So, kayong mga
batchmates na nasa Pinas may not know the impact of the economic
crisis. We also feel sorry sa latest tragedy dyan satin, yung
flooding. Even my brother was one of those affected by the floods
because he lives at Cainta.
Beng, Angel, Derick, Lorenz and Marlon, musta na kayo dyan sa
California? I heard California has more percentage of unemployment
than here in Florida. Really wanted to move there pero wala pang job
offers. Preng Derick, meron ka na bang nabigyan ng resume ko dyan? :)
So those batchmates who are thinking of going to US for work, now is
NOT the right time. Punta kayo dito probably next year or next next.
I don't know about our Canadian classmates (Sonny Banares & Jojo
Cotillon, and others), I heard that Canada is doing well in this
recession. Hang on to your jobs muna, wag munang mag isip na lumipat
lipat and mahirap makahanap ng jobs nowadays. Sadly speaking, the
engineering career that we have (structural and civil) are the primary
engineering jobs that are affected with this recession, so just hang
on!
Nong, di na kita natawagan na nagpunta ako dyan, sobra busy ko dahil
inayos ko mga papers ng family ko dahil they have to migrate na dito.
Andito na lahat ang family ko sa Florida. :)
Okay, sige. Iyan ang latest update dto sa US, for somebody who wanted
to know anything about America. Bagsak na bagsak ang USA ngayon, so
don't even think of migrating here muna. Pwede muna kayo mag-tour and
medyo maluwag dahil US needs money coming in from other countries
(that's a tip). :)
