Hi everybody,

The latest version of MapTiler for Mac is available on the Mac App Store as a free application:

If you have an Apple laptop or desktop computer running Mac OS X Mountain Lion (10.8), Lion (10.7) or upgraded Snow Leopard (10.6.6+) you can now easily install the latest version of MapTiler from the Mac App Store.

This version of MapTiler is powered by our C++ rendering core, which means it is fast, it comes with new features, fixed bugs and functionality normally available only to our MapTiler Cluster customers.

Some of the new cool features:

- New viewer built on Google Maps V3 with over-zooming and opacity slider
- Maximally simplified installation and full switch to 64bit platform
- Rendering of world maps without any issues or preprocessing
- Direct optimisation of the size of produced tiles (pngnq embedded)
- The XYZ tile addressing directly compatible with OpenStreetMap & Google Maps as the default output
- Improved KML SuperOverlay implementation
- MBTiles support via mbutil
- Support for hosting the tiles with WMTS and TileJSON compatibility by https://github.com/klokantech/tileserver-php - maps are openable in ArcGIS Desktop, QGIS, ... etc
- And many more small fixes and improvements

The new updates and support for other platforms (such as Microsoft Windows) will follow.

Best regards,

Petr

This is great news. One of the reasons I am still running Snow Leopard is MapTiler. With regards to the XYZ default, can users change it to the TMS standard where Y starts from the south and increases to the north? I can't see that setting.

Hi Craig,

Thanks. The support for TMS standard (back compatibility with older MapTiler) will come as an option in new release which we are finishing now.

Great. I've been trying to get GDAL onto Mountain Lion via MacPorts but seemed to hit a different error every time. I got it on via the GUI installer but I still vastly prefer MapTiler.

Bruce,

The upgrade should be usable on all your personal computers which uses the same Apple account. This is standard for all non-consumable purchases made with AppStore.

Petr,

Thank you for an excellent app – new viewer is great –looking forward to MBtiles support.
One question, can in app upgrade be transferred to a second machine? (does not seem too)

The MapTiler 0.3.1 has been released via the Mac App Store. Upgrade should be pushed to anybody who installed the software before.

This version has several bug fixes and an option for rendering into older TMS tiling scheme - to be back compatible with the older open-source MapTiler and existing applications (TiledMaps, iGIS, etc).

Best regards,

Petr
