Scoping: Base map

I'm scoping a mapping platform for our non-profit.  We need to create our map online from a global zoomable base like Google Earth.  Does MapTiler provide such a base map or must we overlay our own map to get started?  If we overlay a trivial map can we zoom out, move, and edit the base, or can we only edit the overlay?

If you upload your own overlays made with MapTiler Desktop you can combine these together.

Placing markers and developing your own basic interaction is a question of selecting your favorite JavaScript API (such as Leaflet) and adjust the code as in https://youtu.be/l2LWuKb4-GA
