Hello

I am experiencing problems related to EPSG projections definitions.
Something must be corrupted on my computer (Win XP SP2) as everything
works fine when I try using MapTiler the same way on another machine.
Unfortunately, even after having removed and reinstalled MapTiler, the
problem is still here:
I would like to set my raster PNG (+PGW) file in a swiss projection
EPSG:21781. So when I choose EPSG + 21781 and hit the 'Set' button, I
get an error message saying: "EPSG PCS/GCS code 21781 not found in
EPSG support files. Is this a valid EPSG coordinate system?"

I also tried to paste WKT or Proj4 texts of this 21781 projection
(http://www.spatialreference.org/ref/epsg/21781/) into the box for the
spatial reference system, but it always ends with the same error
message.

I have checked into the MapTiler/proj folder and found that the
projection 21781 is actually present into the epsg file. I assume
MapTiler should then find it...
Any idea where the problem could be?

Hi,

I get a similar error message, and I too am hoping that someone might
be able to help.

My input image is an ECW image in EPSG:3111. However, the error
message I get says "EPSG PCS/GCS code 900913 not found in
EPSG support files. Is this a valid EPSG coordinate system?".

I am able to continue on after clicking OK, but at the rendering
stage, I can't see anything happening. (It's only a 20MB input image,
so I expected to see some progress within an hour.)

Any suggestions for what to try next?

Cheers,

Simon

Hi, I get exactly the same problem as you Simon.

"EPSG PCS/GCS code 900913 not found in EPSG support files. Is this a
valid EPSG coordinate system?"

I tried to add 900910 in EPSG file but it doesn't work.

Any help would be very welcome.

Thanks

Ludovic

Hello everybody,

I reviewed the maptiler initialization code and I think the situation
when Maptiler can have problem to find the EPSG database resource file
appears in case:

- You have in the past installed on your computer either OSGe4W or
FWTools or other Proj.4 installation
- now it is uninstalled but you still have the variable "GDAL_DATA" or
"PROJ_LIB" set in the system - probably pointing to a non-existent
directory.

Can somebody who has this "EPSG not found" problem please try to check
the list of system variables in Windows under:
-> My Computer (right click) -> Properties -> "Advanced" tab ->
Environment variables.

If you find there GDAL_DATA or PROJ_LIB which points to a non-existent
directory then just delete this records. This should help MapTiler to
use the epsg database enclosed with the windows installer instead of
trying to use the files which are not available anymore.

Please send here a report if this helped or not.

In case it does not help we have to more precisely localize the
problem, I really would like to fix this issue. Is there anything in
common for the computers with this EPSG not found problem? I don't
have access to such a computer, so far all the Windows machines I was
trying were OK. Are you using 64-bit processors / windows?
Please provide more info, so we can improve the MapTiler application...

Best,

Hi Klokan,

Success! You were correct. I had environment variables from MapGuide
2.0 (I have since upgrade to 2.1) that were no longer being used:

GDAL_DATA: C:\Program Files\MapGuideOpenSource2.0\Server\data
PROJ_LIB: C:\Program Files\MapGuideOpenSource2.0\Server\nad

I deleted these as you instructed, and now MapTiler works correctly.

Thanks for figuring that one out, Klokan. Let me buy you a beer next
month at FOSS4G in Sydney. I look forward to your presentation there.

Cheers,

Simon

Hi Klokan, hi all,

Success here too!
I have found a variable
GDAL_DATA: C:\ms4w\tools\gdal-ogr\
Probably coming from FWTools.

I have renamed this variable to GDAL_DATA_Test and now MapTiler is
able to find EPSG:21781 !

However, GDAL_DATA points to an existent directory!
Does it mean that this directory contains corrupted files (gcs.csv or
pcs.csv)?

Cheers,
Chris
