I just bought another of Mosh Ben-Ari's CDs (available at
http://www.israelmusic.com -- you should be able to listen to cuts at
the site, but as I recall, they're too short to leave much of an
impression). Strangely enough, although I've been listening to it for
the last several days, I can't remember what the hell it's called.

Upon searching, I recall the title is Masa Ve Matan (Negotiation).

Ben-Ari's last release was Derech (Path), and this one is pretty much
an extension of the same styles and melodies -- north African
influences, pleas for peace, love and understanding (insofar as I can
decipher the Hebrew). It's quite listenable and, on some cuts,
danceable. The guy has a nice voice.

At home we refer to Mosh as Rasta Jew because of his
impressive/ostentatious dreadlocks. He's a member (or maybe by now
former member) of a sort of psychedelic-spiritual Israeli-Arab group
Sheva (Seven). Went solo to do his own thing.

It seems really odd to me that you can't find Rasta Jew at Amazon. You
can, at last, find Idan Raichel, who also boasts
impressive/ostentatious dreads; however, you can only buy his first
album, The Idan Raichel Project. Which, by the way, is terrific
Israeli-Ethiopian world pop. Raichel's second album--currently
unavailable at Amazon--is as good or better, especially its title song,
Mimamakim (Out of the Depths).

Seems bizarre to me that this stuff is not incredibly popular all over
American college campuses. A sign of the times, perhaps...
