Where can i download .map files of cities from the world for use in mapsforge?

Hi

Where can i download some maps from cities from europe and the rest of the world?

I see that in the repository of mapsforge main page i can download countries, but i need some maps from cities allready done for make some tests.

The maps can be from mapsforge 0.2.4 and 0.3, doens't matter, i can use both libraries

Hi saex,

if you just need a map of any city for testing, you can use the maps in the Downloads section of the wiki (it's quite hidden): select "All download", leave the search field empty, and then choose the map file that you prefer from the list.

For example, here is the direct link for the berlin map: http://code.google.com/p/mapsforge/downloads/detail?name=berlin.map

Hi, but there i only have maps for three cities, berlin, bremen and hamburg. I need maps of more cities

I don't know if and where there are other maps to find, sorry.

If you don't manage to find some other maps, you can always do them by yourself, exporting the xml data from http://www.openstreetmap.org/ and then converting them using osmosis, as explained here: http://code.google.com/p/mapsforge/wiki/GettingStartedMapWriter (notice the pitfall about the bounding box, though)

You can also download map of the country that contains that cities from geofabrik.de and then extract cities with osmosis plugin.
