On the HTC one x+  4.1.1 the font for street names and other text on the maps  is so so small that I can not read even with zoom level 20 can. (Yes, even with glasses!)

When
Zooming the map, the text is displayed bigger and short-time readable, then the text is again as small as previously and disappears and ist only identify as a black bar.

The phenomenon I already knew from the Galaxy 4.0.4, the text was also very small but i still could just read it.

Does anyone have a solution?

Which application are you using? The AdvancedMapViewer has a nice
"font-size" option in its preferences where you can simply select a
different entry. This can also be done programmatically via the
MapView.setTextScale(float) method (at least in the 0.3.0 version).

Greetings,
Thilo

THX!
In AdvancedMapViewer I have found the "font-size" option in the settings only "tiny" to "huge". But "huge" is still very small.

The MapView.setTextScale (float) method, I have not found in the 0.3.0 version. where is it?

The other program I use is Android-Cache-Box 5.1366, I have not found such settings, one st there  but it does not work

Thanks for your feedback, then we will add another "really-super-huge"
entry in the next version with an even larger font size.

Are you sure that you are a software developer? If yes then you should
be able to find that method based on my hint (if you are using the 0.3.0
version of the library), otherwise this is not an option for you.

Well, it is up to the application developer whether he/she integrates
such a menu and which font-size values he/she offers. If your favorite
app is missing that particular feature, i suggest that you write an
email to its developer and kindly request it for the next version.

Thilo

Hi Tilo,

what is the default value for the method MapView.setTextScale(float) and what unit (e.g. TypedValue.COMPLEX_UNIT_SP)?

Thanks for your great work
Martin

The default value for the text scale is 1, the parameter has no unit. It
is simply a factor by which all font sizes in the render theme file will
be multiplied.
