Is it possible to have the label displayed multiline?
E.g. given a peak's name and height, would "Mt. Everest\r\n8848" display name and height on two lines?

What map library, Mapsforge or VTM?

I do not think it is supported.

These do not seem valid names, in OpenStreetMap the elevation is usually separate.

If you process the data, you can put the elevation in parentheses.

Name (elevation)

It's for Mapsforge.

Data will be preprocessed by combining multiple tags into the name tag.
I prefer a multiline label as this would provide a neater display of
data and that's not just for peaks, but for other objects. E.g. a bus
stop with a multiline list of bus line numbers for bus, trolley, tram,
etc.
