Ideas for May mapping party

Hey everyone,
Let's take advantage of the pleasant weather and start lining up a mapping party for May. A lot of ideas have been tossed around over the last few months, -from historical themes, natural history, nearby cities & suburbs, and so on. So we have a lot to choose from, including:
1) War of 1812 sites
2) DC boundary stones (see http://www.boundarystones.org/)
3) National Arboretum / Kenilworth Gardens
4) a Baltimore-centered event
5) <your idea here>

I'm going to suggest we target 18 May. Once we settle on a place we can start hunting for facilities (i.e. coffee, wifi, & beer).

Great. I'm just waiting to hear from http://knowledgecommonsdc.org/, I proposed the Arboretum mapping for their schedule. It would bring a whole new community of people to MappingDC.


I'm up for anything else too.

I like the idea for mapping National Arboretum. plus it's beautiful to go there and do some field collection with GPS.

However, I will be on a vacation plane on the 18th.

We're going to meet 4.17 (this Weds) 5:30ish - Woody's Rum Bar in Fells Point. If that's crowded we'll hit the 2nd floor of Slainte (right downstairs) - still a nice view of the harbor!  This is a first attempt to gather a Baltimore contingent - and obviously the more the merrier!! We'll just get to know each other and start to plan a formal group. 

Should be a nice evening as well! Open to any suggestions :)

Waiting for the final decision, looks like May 11 is the day for the Tree Mapping Party.

We're also weighing another easier to reach site in DC. Scoping out this weekend.
