Juba community mapping event, 7th September 2011

Greetings everyone!

Our team will be in Juba from 4-8 September for our 3rd South Sudan community mapping event. Event hosted by the South Sudan National Bureau of Statistics. Please find more details: at: https://sites.google.com/site/mapsudan/home/juba/schedule

Target audience for this event: South Sudanese and others, living in Juba and surrounding areas, who have current local geographic knowledge of the country, and an interest in building a mapping community is South Sudan.

As a South Sudanese, I feel I should express my gratitude to you and Google for this continous effort to not only try to put South Sudan on the world's map but also with the right/correct boundaries determined by those with local knowledge and living within them. 

 

I would have loved to attend this event  but I will be here (Oxford, UK) although I have forwarded the link to 4 South Sudanese web group forums that I am a member of, for wider scope!

 

I hope to attend future events!

We are involved in supporting WASH sector planning in South Sudan.

I was thinking that to enhance the South Sudan map it would be good if clearance con be obtained from government to name all unnamed roads with either a number or letter like is done in Dakar Senegal.
This was when adding points of interest address is there.
This will great ly motivate mappers and companies
