Esteemed Map Makers,

I am writing to you what may be a simple question, or it may be infinitely complicated and impossible. Either way I anxiously await your response.

Question 1: Can a singular employee (with corporate approval) update multiple business holdings and listings on Google Maps?

Basis for question: I work for a medium-scale home builder (300-400 homes/year) and while we sell new homes in multiple communities across south-eastern PA and when you conduct a Google search for us you are given our webpage, a few scattered listings and no real concrete data. As a member of the new generation of tech addicts, I would like to see a more streamlined process whereas a search for my company would produce a complete listing on Google maps of all communities where new homes are being sold and interlace the user's confidence in Google into the process of searching for a home.

Question 2: How might I complete this project? How would I even start it?

Basis for question: I have not been assigned this project as of yet, but I can forecast the request somewhere down the line and would like to remain a few steps ahead of the game. Should I be able to learn new skills and incorporate them into other mutually-beneficial projects that can be accomplished with the aid of Google... that would just be a bonus.

Question 3: When the incorporation of company, public and Google Mapping data is complete, how do I publish and see the approval of my final project?

Basis for question: With more than 44 active communities to incorporate across 2 states and 10+ counties... to work on this project and not hold the support of the mapping community would be unwise. How can I work to benefit the GM community while still accomplishing my task at hand?

Thank you for your responses ahead of time, and as a note to the moderators... Should this question be poorly placed within these forums, please inform me by e-mail, or by reply to this post and I will take action accordingly.

Sincerely,

Josiah

John, you should only to add your permanent locations to the maps, and not all of the transient ones.  The live Google map should not have all of your temporary work trailers and sites that are not going to be there for very long.  Really the only places that should be mapped are the main offices, and any sales centers that are going to be there for a few years, not just a few months.

If you want to maintain a list of all of your current building locations, you probably want to make a custom map using the My Maps feature and share it out to the public, and then you can put a link to it on your corporate website.  Your potential customers would then be able to access a current list of your work sites, and you wouldn't have to go through the approval process every time you wanted to make a change.

Here's a link to the help page about creating custom maps.
