Any interest in a sub-group for Costa Rica ? It would be a nice place for current political boundary discussion and more that is Costa Rica related.

Hi zxrayz,

To be honest I do not see enough people in the forums interested in Costa Rica to add a sub-group yet. Why don't you start by participating in the couple of threads there are  already? For instance the one about Political Divisions?
There is also some information I added about how to map Costa Rican roads, have you checked that out? any comments?

I am just checking.

Just thought that it would be nice to have somewhere with some combined Costa Rica info to direct the numerous people mapping Costa Rica. There seems to be a lot of people mapping, but everyone seems to be doing their own thing. I think most want the map to be accurate but sadly it appears some are using the map as their personal playground.

I have already read the info about Political Divisions. It is a mess without them on the map, but getting them on the map is not going to be easy if we want it done right. Many districts are divided along rivers and high res satellite view for the whole country would be needed to do it right and have it match the images. I can not imagine trying to go back and adjust everything again after the satellite view is updated. I got cadd files of my area from the local municipality last year... they have a long ways to go before it is usable.

I saved the info you posted on the road naming. I seriously doubt that streets in my area will ever be named, much least ever see street signs in my area. There are a few roads that have names per the topo maps but very few people know them. The guy at the municipalidad who is creating the cadd drawing said he wanted to name all the streets in the canton or at least in the area that has been plotted, but he said that the higher ups said it was a waste of time and money.

I agree with redwood, in order to have a better sub-forum there should be some good activity first, and it would be nice to motivate people to do it in something like a mapping party? have you thinking about making one redwood? (btw Colombia has almost noone in these forums :S)
