Hi,
I assume from your description that you're using Building Maker, and
therefore the texturing isn't in your hands. The reviewers are real
people, although very heavily worked people. What you're seeing isn't
supposed to happen, but the process for handling row houses isn't
fantastic. The reviewers don't have enough context to figure out
what's going on, so they tend to render overly harsh judgments.
Here's a few things you can try, depending on how much effort you're
willing to spend:
1) Build the whole block, and then, if it's rejected for "needs
splitting", appeal the review (the "Tell us why we're wrong" link on
the model details page) and explain the situation.
2) Build individual houses, and if they're rejected for incomplete
texturing, appeal. This is not ideal (it's more work for you, there's
likely to be mismatches between the models, and the whole block won't
look optimal until all the buildings get accepted). However, since we
really do prefer single houses as models to whole blocks, we'd like
this solution better if you're willing to put up with us through it.
3) Build the whole block, pull the resulting model into SketchUp, and
split it there (applying neutral textures to the walls connecting
individual houses. Concrete textures, or textures drawn from the
paint or stucco or brick of the "typical block" work best here). Make
components out of the split houses and upload the individual
components. You may still have to appeal the occasional model, but
this technique ensures that there aren't height discrepancies and
other artifacts. From our point of view, this is almost the best of
all possible worlds; we get individual buildings as models, and they
all look good even if they don't all go live at the same time. It's
more work for you, though, so if you're thinking "you want me to
WHAT." I'm certainly not going to insist.
4) Email me with the set of models you're working on. I can take a
look at them, and possibly suggest something more specific.
