Amigos:

 

tengo casi 1 anio tratando de modificar un contenido del google maps de Republica Dominicana y he planteado la situacion varias veces aqui, pero lamentandolo mucho no he logrado el resultado. No quiero ofender a nadie, mas bien, todo mundo se ha mostrado muy dispuesto a ayudar, peor el tema es que sigo con el problema.

 

Para los que no lo han leido, les cuento de nuevo.

 

Represento al hotel SIVORY PUNTA CANA, en Uvero Alto, Provincia La Altagracia, cuyas coordenadas exactas son:

 

Latitud: 18.838849

Longitud: -68.612924

 

Luego de varios intentos, logre' ubicar bien el punto en el gogle map, sin embargo aun sigue apareciendo tambien el hotel en otra locacion como a 45 km de distancia de donde realmente estamos, lo cual me ha generado quejas por confusion con algunos clientes.

 

Si buscan en el google Maps "sivory Punta Cana", les aparecean dos puntos en el Mapa, el punto A es INCORRECTO, que aparece cerca del aeropuerto de PUnta Cana.

 

El Punto B es el correcto,

 

Espero que con las coordenadas que he provisto mas la detallada explicacion, alguien me pueda ayudar a eliminar la ubicacion erronea que tenemos y solo dejar la correcta.

 

Si esto no es posible de lograr por esta via y tengo que comunicarme directamente con Google, tambien agradezco me informen.

I have almost 1 year trying to modify a content of google maps of the Dominican Republic and I have raised the situation several times here, but regrettably I have not achieved the result. I do not want to offend anyone, rather, everyone has been very willing to help, but the issue is that I still have the problem.

For those who have not read, I will tell you again:

I represent the hotel Sivory Punta Cana in Bavaro, La Altagracia Province, whose exact coordinates are:

Lat: 18.838849
Longitude: -68.612924

After several attempts, I managed to properly locate the point on the google map, even though the hotel also still appears in another location about 45 km away from where we really are, which has generated complaints to my company because some clients have booked based on the location

If you look in the Google Maps "Sivory Punta Cana", you will be able to see two points in the map, point A is WRONG, which appears near the airport in Punta Cana

Point B is correct, in the area of Bavaro

I hope that after having provided the coordinates and this detailed explanation, someone can help me delete the wrong location and only let the right one.

I thank you also inform me if this is not possible to achieve by this means and if I have to communicate directly with Google or if I have to pay anything.

Hola Jose,

Acavo de eleminar (delet) el punto que estava incorecto y esta (pending)  de review. Ahora solo falta que otros usarios aproven el edit.

I just marked the feature as a duplicate and set it to be removed. The feature is now pending for review by other users(mappers). Once other mappers approve the edit it will be removed from goolge maps.

Siempre es preocupante que realices cambios o cometas algún error cuando editas algún punto o calle y con el tiempo permanezca errado no se de que forma corregirlo en el acto.

Cualquier ayuda sera bien recibida.

Jochy me imagino que tienes localizada la entrada principal del hotel o tienes los vértices de todo el complejo?

This is an excellent case to show why/where OpenStreetMap is very powerful.

I added the hotel to OSM yesterday and it now shows up on the map--on zoom level 17 - http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=18.83913&lon=-68.61269&zoom=17&layers=M .

 

The project is currently going through its biggest change since its start in 2004, changing the license from CreativeCommons to Open Database License, which is more business-friendly and the servers are squeezed with tasks related to the license change -- so it might take a few days for the other zoom levels to show up.

In any case, the point of the hotel is there

and you can add any details to it yourself, or add any additional missing information to the area yourself, directly. No need for waiting approval from Someone.

The OpenStreetMap has gained a lot of traction in the last half a year or so when companies such as Foursquare and Apple are switching to it from Google Maps because of various freedom aspects as well as control and pure $ issues (from service providers' point of view).
