Hi Mappers,

Today we are pleased to announce the addition of two more countries to the Map Maker family - France & Monaco are now open for editing on Map Maker!

With this, Google Map Maker is now available in 190 countries and territories across the world. You can post your thoughts and suggestions on this forum post here.

We invite you as mappers across the globe to enrich France’s maps with your local knowledge, embodying the rich culture and spirit unique to France, reflecting the heart of your neighborhood as you edit and add details to features on the map.

With Google Map Maker, adding your favorite places to the map is easy.  Start with your local bakeries, cinemas, parks, and museums.  Mappers around the world have contributed incredibly detailed maps and we’re eager to see the same level of detail for locations throughout France and Monaco.

For users new to Map Maker, visit the help center for tips on how to get started, which is also available in French. We welcome you to the Google Map Maker family. Happy mapping!

We also have some more good news...

New & Improved Look :

Just a few months back we rolled out a whole new look to Google Map Maker.  Continuing on the same trend, we’ve made some integral changes to Map Maker which we hope will make it easier to use.  These changes include a new Add New button and an integrated toolbar.

The all new Google-one Bar:

A long time request, we’ve now come up with a Google one bar which has all the toolbars at one place. The Add New and other tools moved up out of the view port, The settings option has moved down, Review option shifted to the top left of the page, making all the Map Maker tools in one line.

  • Improved Add New Button:

You will now see a red Add New button which has also moved out of the view port, to
let you to have a clearer look of maps.

  • Shifted Review Button:

The Review Button, or the Review Edits (as known earlier) has shifted to the top right of
the viewport along with the Edit and Browse options.

Category Widget Shifted:

Once you add a feature the tool prompts you to add a category. We’ve moved the category widget to the top center of the view port. Earlier, it used to be at the top left of the view port.

Location description moved to the right of the viewport:

Earlier, once you zoom-in, the location used to appear on top of the map. We’ve now moved it at the top right of the viewport.

Thanks,
Sneha (On behalf of the entire Map Maker team, Google)
