Hi Experts,

I am planning to create some tools in Mapinfo using Python. Does anybody know any good reference, book or reading materials to help me start on this project ?

Thank you in advance!

There’s a bit of basic information in the v2019.1 Release Notes document.

Besides that I’d recommend looking at the Extensibility Reference Help System that you can find in your MapBasic installation folder.

In the MapInfo Marketplace, you can download a couple of Python tools:

- Python Console that will allow you to write and execute Python code inside MapInfo Pro

- Python Quick Start that will provide you with a number of examples on how to perform certain task using Python.

Hi Peter

Thanks a lot for your response. I just updated to Mapinfo 2019.3 today and could run some python code [the file I initially attached] from Mapinfo. I will try to download those tool you mentioned.

Initially, I exported to mrr to csv and was running location query on Python data frame [created from csv which is from mrr files]. Is there any reference code that I can run directly on mrr file? Like, I have a geolocation (X and Y -> lat, lon) and I want to query mrr files and mrr files will return me with Clutter Data for that (X,Y) location. I will search in the tools and market place but if you know up front and can share with me that will be really helpful.

Again, thanks for your help. Really appreciate.

Regards
Sohel

What I meant is similar to point inspection but using python code.

Thanks and regards
