HI,

Where can I find the subdirectory that the MapInfo symbol style library is stored, such as for MapInfo Cartographic, MapInfo Oil and Gas, etc.

And what file extension do these files have? Are all *.TTF, and / or something else?

This is using MapInfo 9.5 on Windows 7.

Many thanks,

Bill

For v6.5 of MI, the standard symbols installed with Mapinfo are all truetype fonts categorized as "symbol" in their respective fontset and are located in your %System%\Fonts folder (eg C:\Windows\Fonts)

The font file names (at least on MI 6.5) follow the naming:  TTMICG__.TTF for Mapinfo Carographic and TTMIOG__.TTF for Mapinfo Oil & Gas...  etc. etc.

The Mapinfo 3.0 Compatible "symbols" if still around on your version of MI, are mere vector grapics contained in the Mapinfo "font file" *.FNT.
Depending on your installation of MI, the *.FNT file may be found in the MI program directory, or under the "_:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\MapInfo\MapInfo\Professional\[YOUR MI VERSION NUMBER]\Mapinfow.fnt"

MI "Custom" symbols created from bitmap images (*.bmp) are stored yet in another location, usually in the user's "Documents and Settings" folder as above.

Or similar to that, your milage may vary :)
