How to convert MapInfo .TAB file to googlemaps .KML or .KMZ file

I urgently need to convert a mapinfo file to .KML or .KMZ file.
 
Can some please help me on how to do this?

Hi Sue,

This tool generates a KML wrapper around a JPG. Very poor solution
compared to a real vector KML file.

PB MapInfo ought to export each element in the TAB file on it's own to KML.

Actually the GE Connection Utility will export either the wrapped image KML
OR a vector KML with objects - you have to select the objects you want to
kick out to KML first, then you can also select which fields to pass on as
attributes as well as a label with field. It works pretty well - tho we've
had occasional oddities.

For commercial options you can buy into the full FME suite and extend MI
Pro's Universal Translator to include KML and many more formats - or we also
use Global Mapper for export AND import of KML/KMZ - that runs about $300.

Folks,
 
I just exported the .MAP file to .KML and it showed fine in Google Earth until I changed the Transparency (in Google Earth) to being more clear..
 
Now my image shows up with a Big Red X underneath. Does anyone know why this happens and how to remove it.

I've used several utilities to convert from TAB to KML but so far the simplest way has been to use OGR/GDAL, you can try OGR2GUI http://www.inventis.ca/ogr2gui/index_en.htm.

Hi Aman

What I did several times, is to convert first TAB into the ESRI Shape
Format (.shp) and than use the http://www.zonums.com/shp2kml.html free
tool which provides true kml files (if I remember well) and not
embedded JPGs.

For some other options please check http://freegeographytools.com/
