Hello Listers,

In August 2008 I have published some files for MapBasic Syntax
Highlighting and Auto Completion in Notepad++. Now - with MapInfo
Professional 10.5 released - I tought it about time to update and
improve those files.

Update:
All functions, statements and definitions which are introduced in 10.0
and 10.5 have been added, as well as some keywords.

Improvement:
In the Auto Completion list I have added brackets to the functions,
i.e. instead FrontWindow the Auto Completion list will now give you
FrontWindow()

You can download the new files and simply overwrite your existing
userDefineLang.xml and mapbasic.xml (or mapbasic.api). You can also
use those new files when you are not (yet) using MapBasic 10.5.

You can find the files - with instructions on how to use them - on the
following location: http://www.twiav.nl/php/mapbasic.php

Egge-Jan

Hi. That's a great news. Are you able to provide separate set of files
for a particular MB version, so it matches it's functionality?
Hope it's not a big headache :)

Hi Jakub!

I thought to ask that too, but is there any need for that?
That would only be necessary if keywords or other stuff were changed between version, which I do not think it has.
I think it is great if Egge-Jan can keep the files updated for the latest version, and then it's up to the user to know which parts are valid for his MB version.

If you are programming for different MB versions, for backward compatibility, for instance, it would not make sense to have to switch syntax files for each.

Regards, Mats.E

Hi

I also found it extremely helpful.

Notepad++ with the syntax and line numbers is heaps better than the
Mapbasic Editor.

But I was wondering whether there is a lexer or pluging that permits
code folding.

I know you can hide lines but it would be great if you could hide
those completed subs.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Has anyone updated the MapBasic Syntax Highlighting and Auto Completion in Notepad++ for MapInfo Pro version 12.5?

Thanks
