Hi,

it's now more then a week that i try to install MiPro 16 on my laptop and it still doesn't anything better, then anoy me with a 3 seconds hourglass cursor after the doubleclick start.
Not even the start screen is showing up, - but a crash dump is created.

The installation went like this:

The laptop had a perfectly running MiPro 15.2 64 Bit installed, - this was deinstalled and the setup program of MiPro 16 was started.

The setup program tried to install the prequisites, but after more than an hour at the same screen i needed to shut down the computer and tried to cancle that process, - but the setup program didn't respond, so i killed that process. Next day i tried the setup again, but again the installation of the prequisites got stuck and i needed to kill that process
So i read the installation manual and installled the .NET Framework 4.6.2 manually (the needed 4.6.1 Framework seems to be outdated already).
After this installation the MiPro setup program didn't ask for any prequisite and installed the program right away, successfully as it said.

But now it doesn't start.

I took the crash dump through the windows debugger, and it tells me something like that:

----------------------------

(4e0.a8): CLR exception - code e0434352 (first/second chance not available)

"micore_ux.dll" seems to be the main component of MiPro and is by itself present, but it seems, that some dependencies of that module are not resolved.

I have deinstalled & installed MiPro 16 now many times, cleaning anything i could find in the registry and on hard disk before any install in advance, but still it doesn't work and didn't ask to install the prequisites any more.

The system is:
- Windows 8.1 64 Bit German all patches installed  (32 GB RAM / i7 / enough disk space)
- .NET Framework 4.6.2
- Office 2013 32 Bit
- MiPro 15 32 Bit installed
- MapBasic in different versions
- VS 2013 Community Edition

I also wrote to Pitney Bowes support, but didn't get an answer since over a weeks time, - a shame.

Any ideas are highly appreciated

Stefan

It looks like from the error that your .NET Framework is/was not installed correctly.  You did say that the setup prerequisites was installing very slowly and that you killed the process.  Unfortunately when you did this the setup prerequisite probably did not roll back and was left partially installed and this probably fooled their setup program into think that it was installed.  MapInfo Pro is dependent on this prerequisite and if it is not installed properly then it work work.  Try uninstalling the setup prerequisites, rebooting the machine and then reinstall everything.

Good lick!

Good morning Mark,

a week ago i was able to solve that puzzle. After a long long journey through repairing / deinstalling / re-installing all .NET Frameworks (and MiPro as well) on that machine, - that didn't make any difference -, doing this and that and spending at least two working days with this, i found out, that it was actually the VCC_Runtime environment on that machine. After uninstalling VC-Runtimes 2010/2013/2015 x86/x64 and reinstalling them all, MiPro did finally work.

Nevertheless: It is distracting, if the setup program tells you, everything went fine through installation and even a quick look into the registry shows you very easiely, that the COM registration of the program was missing. Since that is really easy to detect, the setup program should inform the user, that something went wrong.

Anyway, - thanks
and Cheers

Stefan
