Dear all,

This is my first time using this particular google group. I have been
using MapInfo for about 4 years. We have recently started a project
that involves 're-doing' some maps. I had problems re-saving the .tab
file after I had performed some sql (points within a boundary). When I
looked at the file, to make sure they were not read only etc., I
noticed that the normal .DAT file had been replaced with an .AID file.
I am right in thinking that this works with a .mdb file to produce the
table? Does this then mean that I would only be able to re-save any
sql performed on these by having access to the original .mdb file?

If anyone has any pointers as to the easiest way of being able to save
the outputs of queries I would be very grateful. Alternatively if
anyone could give me an idea how the .AID file works I would also be
grateful.

Many Thanks

Christopher Styche

Hi Chris!

I think the .aid file is the link between the .map file and an access
database, used as you say instead of the native (some dbase dialect)
.dat file.
