Hi,

I have imported two raster layers into MapInfo and am interested in
combining the two layers by either adding or subtracting the values in
the cells across each of the two layers. The problem I am having is
that I cannot make the raster layers editable or selectable, or at
least that is what I think i need to do. I was simply hoping to use
the combine option to merge the two layers or the SQL select option to
create a single new layer from the other two.

Am I on the right track here? Can anyone provide help on how to merge
two raster layers to create one layers of added cell values?

Thanks

MapInfo Pro itself can do very little with raster data, apart from displaying it. To query/edit etc you must use another add-on product such as Vertical Mapper.

There is a free program called Grid Analyser, available in the MapInfo Google Groups files, which has a lot of functionality.

Or for basic operations, you can download my MIG Toolbox
http://www.hsgridder.com/downloads.html

Thanks Tim,

I have downloaded it and am trying out HS_gridder. Is there any
documentation associated with the program? I am trying to combine to
logical (1/0) grid layers but there is an error which tells me that I
cannot divide by zeros. I tried all the combine operator options, but
kept coming up with the same error. I thought this would be a fairly
simple combine, but maybe I am doing something wrong. Thanks or your
help.

Hi Andy,

I had a go with the MIG Toolbox (not hs gridder - different program!) and got the same error, don't know why. I'm not too surprised, I put that toolbox together from a bunch of programs I'd written over the years.

Maybe try Grid Analyser? I don't know when I'll have time to look at the code for the MIG Toolbox sorry.
