Geocoding in a Ploygon Layer

Hi list,
i just want to geocode some point data (in form of xls) into a
polygon layer consists area of some particular locations (i.e. zip
code regions etc.). But i used to get stuck with the following
problems:-

1. I am not able to get the which record from the excel file got
geocoded and which one didn't.Though i get the sum of how many got
done and how many not.but it is of no use.
2. All the points which get geocode in one polygon used to lie on the
centre of the polygon and laying over other point. Is it a way so the
points doesn't overlap to each other and got Scaterred randomly within
the polygon.

Kindly suggest.
