Hi, I am trying to create a Google Tile Server using this command:

Create Table Google_TileServer
           File "C:\Google_TileServer"
           Type TILESERVER
           TileType "LevelRowColumn"
           AttributionText "required attribution text"
           Font("Arial",255,16,0,255)
           MinLevel 0
           MaxLevel 21
           Height 256
           CoordSys Earth Projection 10, 157, 7, 0 Bounds(-40075016.6856,-20037508.343) (40075016.6856,20037508.343)

This are returning a error. Could anyone help me??

I don't think you can access Google's Tiles outside of their Google API.

When I run your code I get a 403 forbidden error, which makes sense given the above.

I think Brendan is right. I think the reason MapInfo has a Bing button and not a Google button is exactly because Bing permit such a use (in this case a WMS feed) while Google do not. I think Google Earth and Google Maps are strictly controlled so you can only use them in a way controlled by Google (which means getting whatever ads etc they want to send you), plus of course they monitor the usage and if you start using lots of page views you will get a bill for a Google Corporate Use licence which is about US$10,000 per annum. Lots probably means in the hundreds of thousands, but you could easily reach that on a popular web site.

Also no use of Google is permissible without the corporate use licence if it is private and behind a firewall / user name or the like. So for example as an estate agent I can include Google Maps in my public web site and that is allowed. I can not use it on my bespoke private intranet system where the staff enter properties for sale  (I can if it is just looking at the google map on a google page, but not if I am building just the map window into my own software).

I guess this is all so you can’t separate their maps from their adverts without paying a fee.

Regards

Tim

Hi Tim Rideout,  Thank you very much to your attention.

In my research, I found this application: MapperG™ is an add-on to MapInfo Professional that allows you to add Street Maps, Aerial Imagery, Hybrid Maps, or Terrain Maps from Google Maps with the click of a button, as well as International Geocoding.

So, how can they do that? If it´s a add-on, i think it was a Mapbasic software.

MapperG is a subscription product. The annual fee enables unlimited use for one year.

MapperG integrates with MapInfo mapper window and allows you to overlay your own vector data over high resolution imagery from Google Maps, giving you a clear view of your customer or retail locations, utilities infrastructure, or trade areas.

does not support the Layout window correctly.

it won't print correctly on large format printing leave areas with no map displayed.

Qgis can load Goggle maps for free but it has it own printing problems that can be work around with some trial and error
