Anyone else have this issue? I will create a workspace in MI 16, save my output, then later when I go to open that same workspace MI 16 will crash. This only occurs if the workspace is being loaded in a fresh (just opened) instance of MI 16.

I can open the same workspace in 15.2 (x64) without any problems. I've tried loading the workspace line by line and I can't pinpoint any specific line that causes the crash.

But if I start a fresh instance of MapInfo 16, I can replicate the crash. If I open any random table before I open the workspace, it does not crash. It is an easy repeatable bug for me, but hard to diagnose and highly frustrating.

Hi

Does it only happen with workspace where you have printed your map to for example a printer?

Sounds as if the problem might be related to a printer driver?

Can you try to disable to loading of printer information from the workspace and see if that helps?

It’s not an issue I have come across earlier.

Have you tried reaching out to the Pitney Bowes Software Support (software...@pb.com)?

Peter,

That was my first thought. I immediately disable loading of printer information. It is not the issue. But how would that in any case affect the fact that it only crashes on a fresh load of Mapinfo and not other times?

I will submit my report to PB.

Hi Ali/Peter

If you do come across a solution I’d be grateful if you could post it here, we’re still using V10.5 but have exactly the same issue and co-incidentally independently came across the same work around. It’s a pain but we have learnt to live with it (particularly after the fourth or fifth time of opening a workspace without going through the preparatory “dance”).

I demonstrated the bug to MapInfo tech support and provided them with the dump and other information they needed. Hopefully they will find an answer.

We think we tracked the crashing bug to the MI Pro Raster plugin, without that installed the crash does not occur. I dont think that applies to V10.5 though.
