Calculating area in Hecter

is it possible to calculate the area in Hector, presently I am doing
it in sqkm.
Also let me know how to convert a enclosed polygon in to a region.

Yes, Mapinfo supports (at least) the following area units (Newer versions of
MI than what I am running may support other units i.e. sq parsecs, sq
Kellicams etc)
"sq mi" square miles
"sq km" square kilometers
"sq in" square inches
"sq ft" square feet
"sq survey ft" square survey feet
"sq yd" square yards
"sq mm" square millimeters
"sq cm" square centimeters
"sq m" square meters
"sq ch" square chains
"sq li" square links
"sq rd" square rods
"perch" perches
"rood" roods
"acre" acres
"hectare" hectares
And for what you are using, a polygon and a region are one in the same in
MI. I've ever really looked to see what Mapinfo's working definition
actually is, but simply, "region" is that "area" contained by the polygon
object... But we're probably stepping off into some deep semantics here, too
deep for a Friday!

For the conversion to region (just in case you're stuck in the semantics and meant the question this way . . . )
If you have a polyline that you've enclosed, then use the pulldown menu, OBJECT>Convert to Regions. That Convert is probably at the bottom of the list.
