 Hi,

I have a web application that is using the following technologies/softwares.

[1] ASP.NET / C#

[2] SQL SERVER

[3] Google Map API

[4] MapXtreme 7.0

Currently we create TAB files in MapXtreme and then render these files through REST Handler on Google Map.

Everything is working fine. However, we are searching an alternative of MAPXTREME. Reason is the development cost of using MapXtreme.  Our data is stored in SQL SERVER. We have a windows service that creates a TAB file using the data from SQL SERVER and MapXtreme.

I have two questions, Please reply.

[1] Is there any Open Source software that we could easily use in our application in place of MapXtreme?

[2] Can anyone suggest me any free mapping utility so that I could easily convert SQL Spatial Result in a file that can be rendered on the Google Map.

Thanks.

Offhand my best suggestion would be to look into GeoServer.

I have been tasked with returning to this project; therefore, I am re-introducing myself to GeoServer.  I have a mix of data in native .TAB files, as well as data stored spatially inside SQL Server 2014.

With GeoServer, I can mix and match where the data is pulled from in order to display on the map.

I believe you will find that you will need to download QGIS in order to create any custom styling.

Good luck.
