Hi,

I have two maps in two formats: a tab file and a pdf and I need to
overlay one on top of the other to show my data. I haven't tried this
yet, but I think you can georegister a pdf on Acrobat if you have the
latitude and longitude of the four corners of your pdf map, but how do
you translate this into Map Info?

Is there a better way of translating a PDF into a tab or shape file?

Thanks,

Diana

Hi, Di!
There are georeferenced pdf:s but I don't think Mapinfo knows.
My only advice is to rasterize the pdf, in Photoshop, and then
register the image in the usual way. I also think Acrobat can save the
pdf to an image.

You didn't mention what type of PDF contents you have. If the PDF is made
up of vector lines, as Mats stated, you'll need to "rasterize" the PDF (ie
Save it as an image or 'raster') then open and register it within MI.

If the PDF already contains a raster based image, you can open that in MI
just as you would any other image format (ie. JPG, TIF etc) then display or
register as needed.

If your PDF does infact contain vector data...
ANYDWG has a PDF to DWG converter which I suppose you could use, then then
translate the DWG into MI TAB.

(Not ment as any kind of endorsement as I haven't tried this particular
tool)

Hi David,
I don't know what type of pdf's they are, I haven't yet received the pdf files. I'm waiting for them, but want to be ready for when they come.
This is very helpful! Thanks a lot!!!
