Hi

Can you help, I am using table / export to a .dbf file. All my dates which are in Date / time format are being converted to Text.  Is there a way to have them stay as a date format.

Thanks Pam

Hi Pam,

I think this is to do with the fact that Microsoft discontinued
support for DBF files in 2007.

You can use older versions of excel or even try Open Office Calc to
open a dbf file and have the dates formatted as dates.

Another way is to export as txt and when opening the txt file in Excel
go through the import process to specify the date columns as Date YMD,
this will bring them in appropriately.

Cheers

Thanks David

I will try the txt.
At the present I am coping the table converting to date and then exporting and this is working.
I have been told that we have to have all our "date" fields in "date/time" format for the interface with Intramaps, so the master layers have to stay in "date/time" format.

Thanks Pam

Hi Pam,

DBF do not have a date/time field type, only a date field type. You will have to come up with some other way to handle the data in DBF.
