You should be able to create a Grid Thematic Layer if you have point height data.

Sorry man, It was a really long time ago and i don't have vertical mapper with me anymore.

It was pretty simple though from what i can remember. The tools are already there. What you need is a mapinfo file with points and their corresponding height (Z) value.

You only need this then use a tool to create a grid/DEM from it. You will be ask about the grid size and where to save it. That's basically it.

Hi,

Please find attached about the steps how to create grid then create 3D in MapInfo (you can read from MapInfo Help) and Vertical Mapper (you should install this first if you use VM).

Hi,

another option is to use free Grid Analyser (available for download from http://www.mapinfotools.com).

Kevin,

In brief:

Open data layer(s)

Open DTM layer(s)

Open a new map window and add the data and DTM layers to it

On the menu, go to Map > Create 3D Map

Set your units and any other parameters in the dialog and click ok.

Presto, a 3D map.

Hope this helps,

Tom Bacon
