Hi,
I understand Mapinfo keeps all projection information on in a .prj file.
I serched the whole disk, but could not find a file with that extension.
so where is it keeping the info ?

Why I need it, is to add the Nigeria Midbelt details into the file.
strange why MI does not have this already put in
TIA

The master list of projections is in a file called mapinfow.prj which you will normally find in c:/program files/mapinfo/professional

you can find it in C:\Program Files\MapInfo\Professional library (Mapinfow.prj).

to open Mapinfow.prj, you need open it by notepad or wordpad.
to enter information for Nigeria Projection, you must define Catagory, member catogory, catogory name, etc

for example: Vietnamese projection with
prime meridian 105, i declared:
"VN-2000 - 105 - 6", 8, 104, 7, 105, 0, 0.9996, 500000, 0

good luck

The mapinfo.prj file is inside the C:\Program Files\Mapinfo folder.  If you were searching for it and had your extensions turned off – you likely would not have found it.  In Windows Explorer, navigate to Tools\Folder Options\View and uncheck the box “Hide extensions for known file types”.
