I have used MapInfo since Version 4
Development, and progress has been excruciatingly slow at times, but I have made a living with it.
I am going to stick with Version 12 for a while, I can live without the 64 bit capability of Version 12.5
I feel the same way when it comes to ArcGIS Pro
Manifold has been 64 bit for eight years, and it has some great tools.
QGIS is a bandwagon I am going to jump on wholeheartedly.
I use it a great deal, and find myself working in it more than the other software packages mentioned above.
The Print Composer is a great tool and it makes some great printed maps! Yes, it takes some work, but the results have been worth the effort.
The GPS information panel is also very useable, and collecting data in the field is very simple with QGIS (There are a few issues, but they seem to be working on them, and none of the issues are critical flaws.)
The one thing that keeps me coming back to MapInfo is the autoscroll when drawing. Nobody else has it, and it makes drawing very efficient.
I will continue to use MapInfo, and will eventually upgrade to the 64 bit version, but right now 64 bit QGIS works very well, it is easy to learn, and train others in, and the price is right.
It has earned a permanent place in all of my computers, and it is truly worth investigating by anyone involved with geospatial data.
That is just one fool's opinion, and I am probably wrong.

Jon
