load .lyr files into mapinfo

Hi,

I have .lyr files (arcgis polygon and raster) in which I hope to find
map layers.

Can I import these files (.lyr) into mapinfo and how?

I would really appreciate some help.

Hi,

The short answer to that question is no.

Lyr does not contain any geographical data, but include information
about the layers symbology, symbology classifications, labeling
properties, scale dependency etc. You can more or less compare it to
the workspace file in Mapinfo.

You have to find the corresponding shapefile and import it into
Mapinfo (you can use open file and then chance the filetype).
