Hi,

I have a few (3) local map projections that we use for work in other applications. I tried using it in MapInfo but it only reads and opens the files from the source coordinate system.

I would like to overlay other layers map files from the known coordinate system (AGD66) onto the local coordinate system.

I was trying to create the local grid and save it in the text file (MAPINFOW.PRJ) to use it but it requires Admin Access to save it. I could not save it.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Regards,
Jason

Hi,

Your IT department should be able to deal with it. Give you access.

Kind regards

I've always followed Uffe's suggested path. My IT group keeps me out of the C drive (in my case), where all the executables lie.  But they give me read/write privileges for the PRJ file in MapInfo, a relatively harmless text file that resides in the C drive. Surely your overlords can manage the same.

Jason, your request was three brief paragraphs, and this reply applies to paragraph 3.  Question or work-flow problems seems hinted at in paragraph 2 and possibly 1, but I'm uncertain about that.
