Hi,
Greetings,
I am interested to know how to calculate the distance between two points of same table called Sites and also shortest distance between a point of Table1 to line / polyline Table 2.

Any help on this will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Probably you will need a data processing software (such as FME), If
you have a huge dataset for the calculation of distance between two
points. I might be wrong.
Otherwise you can use the rules or use measurement tool in MapCAD.

As for shortest distance, try DriveTime.

There is a tool that comes with Mapinfo called Distance Calculator,
you will have to load in using the tool manager Tools>Tool Manger.
You can select the table to measure from and the table with objects to
measure to, you can also tell it you only want the shortest distance.

It will output a table with lines showing the distances between each
object.

Hope this helps.

This may help. Routeware Toolbox V1.07 is what to look for. It's
freeware but you can purchase the source code. It's a useful
collection of utilities including find nearest and find nearest
object. I'm not sure if you're using Mapbasic or not. That has
distance and nearest functions that you can use. Like someone already
said, the built in tool "Distance Calculator" might do what you need.

If you're using MapBasic then email me and I'll forward what someone
passed on to me about using the 'nearest' statement in Mapbasic. It
helped me a lot understanding it..
