Hello all,

I am trying to create a large map of crimes and associated mugshots. Each mugshot is a JPEG file and is associated with a particular point on the map in the excel file.

How do I import JPEGs into MapInfo? Is there a way to automatically import multiple JPEGs at once?

Thank you,

Andrew

If the jpegs are pictures rather than maps then you don't need to
import them as such.
Assuming you have created a map of the crime locations, you can use
the Hotlink function to connect each location to its related picture.

You can set this up manually using MapInfo with its menu functions,
but if this is an ongoing project you will need to create a small
MapBasic program to automate the process.

Yes I know about the Hotlink function but am unsure how to perform this function? This is done within the browser window correct? I am a little confused about the Hotlink process...

You will find an option to add a Hotlink under the Layer Control.

Typically you will have a column in the locations table that contains
the name/path of the relevant picture. The hotlink will pick up the
path of the object that you click on.

To be really useful you need to use some Map Basic
Have a look in the Map Basic help file. You will find the hotlink
function "Activate.." under Set Map

Alright I am still struggling with the Hotlink, etc. I really just want to plop a jpeg directly into my layout window. Is there not an easy way to accomplish this?
