table export
Create a single site and set it with the preferred parameters. Export the site via
Data -> Export -> project Data -> Select name
Once the default site parameters have been defined export the following tables of this site:
Site
Antennas
Sectors
Sector Antennas
Sector Antenna Ports
Create Sites for Importing
Paste the site names and coords of the sites into the excel sheet under each TAB
Site
Site_ID : Site name
Site_UID : other site identifier
Long/Lat : Easting/Northing projection projected to a single zone. Not sure but I seem to remember that Planet can't import lat/long site data?
Description : whatever
Site name : whatever
Site name 2 : whatever
Candidate Priority : 1
Antenna
Enter the new site list and easting/northing values as in the Site tab. Copy all columns data for the test site with the exception of the ‘Terrain Height (m)’ field. Leave this one blank, Planet will automatically fill this field with the terrain height at that location.
Easier just to import default antenna, then edit for actual antenna within Planet, same with cable length.
Sectors
Enter new sites and copy the test row data
Sector Antennas
Enter new sites and copy the test row data
Sector Antenna Ports
Enter new sites and copy the test row data
After all data has been entered, delete the temp test site and save
Import the data back into Planet via
Data -> Import -> Project Data -> Search for site file -> Check all “Select tables to Import”
Important:
There are a few small things that need to be done to ensure the sites import back into Planet smoothly.
1/ Site Names cannot be too long, if they are the site will fail to import
2/ There can be no trailing spaces in a site name, if there are the site will fail to import
3/ An item with the same key has already been added. This one is a pain. Happens when you use the same name for any entry in the ‘Site ID’ column. All sites must have a unique ID.
Delete the temp site in planet
Hope this helps.
