G'day
In March this year Tim Smith
asked a question about creating a map centred on the Pacific. I now find
that I have to do the same thing. I read the thread in the archive but
there did not seem to be any conclusion as to whether this was possible or
not. I have tried changing the projection clauses of a few of the world
projections to alter the "Origin longitude" (I assume this has the effect of
moving the central meridian). This only seemed to have the effect of
changing the on screen coordinates but the map was still split in the same
place. I have to complete a vector interpretation which will cross
the split and provide the result for use in ARC GIS. If I just extend
vectors to draw them into the space with longitude > 180 will this cause me
problems when I translate the resulting files? I am not an ARC user
but the client showed me it is a simple matter to change the central meridian
and have the map centred where you want. Is there any way to do this in
Mapinfo or not?
Cheers
Steve King
