Hi Hila!

Try removing all indexes from your tab file.
If you are using a non english index, the fme component can be out of sync with the tab file format.
This was the case a few years ago and I fear it has not been updated.

Hi Hila!

I am sorry it did not help. I think you have found where to remove indexes.
But you say it's a non english file, and that is precisely what has caused me trouble in the past with UT, and at that time indexes was the culprit.
Now I have no Swedish MI Pro to test against, so I cannot test if the problem still is there.
But I do see that UT in MI Pro v10 still has the very old GUI from a decade ago.

Maybe someone else will be able to help, and it would be good for them to know what version and language of MI Pro you are using.

Regards, Mats.E

Hi,

Maybe you have objects in your TAB file which the SHP format doesn't
support?

You can also try the ogr2ogr tool for conversion.

I've had the same problem with exporting TAB to DWG.
I suspected that problem was in TAB version.
So I changed TAB version to 800 and then it worked.

my version of UT was
"Feature Manipulation Engine 2009 (20090417 - Build 5674)"

Hi All,

I guess my response is too late for this request.

I also had the same problem.
It's really just a matter of closing the file that you're trying to convert in MapInfo first then do the conversion.

so step 1. Close the tab file in MapInfo
step 2. Open unversal translator and do the conversion

Done!

Regards,
Neil
