Group,

I have several hundred images that need to be scanned and registered. I am looking for recommendations on a scanner that will handle the images and give me a good quality image.  TIA!

Thank You,

How big are the images?

We have a large format (42”)Graphtec CS500-11eN- we added the colour module subsequent to the original purchase. I believe the current model number is CS510.

We scan primarily maps- hand drawn or electronically produced,  and photos only from time to time.

With that many images you can probably justify the cost of purchase for what it would cost to outsource.

Tim,

Check out KIP scanners.  We’ve been using one for about 4 years with great luck.

Hi Tim

Another vote for the Graphtec - we have the CS510.
Produces an A0 drawing in 8 bit colour at 300dpi in less than a minute.
That uses Contact Image Sensor (CIS) technology.

So we also use a Colortrac SmartLF GX42 which is a Charge Couple Device (CCD).

There is an ongoing debate as to which technology is the best.
We were fortunate to get one of each - just to make sure!
And we love them both....
