I've tables in SQL Server (2008 version) that contain Geometric Data,
i.e Regions and Polylines.

In SQL Server when I click on the 'spatial tab' I can view the (map)
spatial data, yet I cannot "see" the mapper data from Mapinfo, all the
columns are available, I can edit the various columns (which is
reflected in the SQL server table) but I cannot view or edit the
spatial data, all I get is a column with hex numbers in.

I've been using a tool that converts the SQL table to a shape file,
then use Universal Translator to import into Mapinfo, then using a
similar process to export the Tab file back into SQL server, few
glitches with projections but it works OK.

Occurred to me there must be a Mapinfo tool that would allow me to
connect and edit direct into sql server?

DAK know of any mbx that would do this

Hmm, MI Pro 10.0 and later opens SQL Server spatial tables directly, and allows editing providing a proper primary index is defined.

Aren't you using MI Pro 10.0 ?

Thanks Lars, I'm using MI 10, primary index is defined, all I see are
the data columns and the "Geometric column" with strings of hex
numbers, the table contains region objects, under table structure the
column is defined as char (254), in SQL server the column is defined
as (geometry, null).

No probelm with point Data, it is polygons I cannot see

regards

Have you then checked that your table is mappable ?

MapInfo Pro only regard tables as mappable if they're registered in the MAPINFO_MAPCATALOG.

Defining a geometry column is not enough.
