File>Save copy as, then click on the projection button at bottom right,
choose your projection give it a new file name (include details of
projection if you like) and that is it.

So ask yourself: Do the objects appear in the right place, even though they
are for the wrong projection?
Or are they really constructed with coordinates for the other projection,
and appear in the wrong place?

Subject: [MI-L] Changing a Tables Projection from One to Another
Can you please clarify if you are aware of the difference in grid shift between AMG & MGA? In your email you refer to AGD not AMG......
The quickest answer is to use this free application provided by (former) NSW Land & Property Management Authority, which uses the National Transformation Grid (NTv2) system for accuracy:
http://www.lpma.nsw.gov.au/survey_and_maps/geodesy/gda/datumtran_software
If you just use the MapInfo File > Save As option, you will not necessarily get the correct or accurate shift.
Also......
A quick (rough summary) skip this if you know it:
***************************************************************************************************************************************************************
Lat/Long's can be be provided based on a world-wide oval-shaped model of Earth
AGD - Australian Geodetic Datum - Lat/Long's which are localised for Australia, based on a Geodetic model of the Earth's shape (google Geodetic) - there were two official versions, one in 1966 (hence AGD 66) and a second revised model in 1984 (referred to as AGD 84)
AGD - Australian Geocentric Datum - Lat/Long's which are localised for Australia, based on a slightly re-centred model of the Earth's shape (google Geocentric) - the current official version is 1994 (hence GDA 94)
Other datums also in use in Australia for Lat/Longs are:
WGS - World Geodetic System - this is often used by GPS units which may not offer Australian localised datum's, as it is considered to provide almost the same as GDA 94
ITRF - google it
ALL OF THESE ARE ELLIPSOID MODELS, I.E. BASED ON A ROUNDED/ OVAL-SHAPED EARTH
Map grids are versions of the earth flattened out to enable a grid system to be used
AMG - Australian Map Grid - Using the UTM grid basics, but with the actual centroid of each grid square slightly (200m SW) of MGA, based on the Geodetic model
ISG - Integrated Survey Grid - A grid used for NSW only - like AMG & MGA (this offered Zones 54-56, and areas 1-3, instead of GHJ)
MGA - Map Grid of Australa - The revised grid which has the cetroids adjusted to suit the Geocentric model
***************************************************************************************************************************************************************
If all of that is wrong (because I am no xspurt), or you knew it already, can I suggest that you go to the website for MapInfo-L and search for AMG as this topic has been raised and answered many times.
Also, you could try the Aust Local Government MapInfo User Group (Google ALGMUG) which has also covered this topic many times. I.e......
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/algmug/message/3913
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/algmug/message/1657?o=1&d=-1
And if you are still stuck.... ask more :-)
